The extrusion of semi-finished materials from magnesium alloy granules.

The method of extrusion has a very important advantage over other methods. It offers consolidation of the granules following by their deformation with the elongation ratio up to 100 and more. No other process can allow the degree of strain that high per one operation. It also creates the best conditions for consolidation of the granules. Due to high degree of strain the contact surface of the granules increases, films that cover the granules crush, which contributes to the seizure of the granules and new semi-finished materials. Besides, the method of extrusion allows producing variously shaped parts suitable for forging.

Together with producing semi-finished materials from standard alloys the method of extrusion can be applied for complex alloys that contain components in amounts higher than their ultimate solubility at the hardening heat. The traditional method of ingot processing can not be applied to these alloys. Thus the method of extrusion of semi-finished materials from granules is actually a method of processing materials with a certain mechanical properties.
