Our company specializes in designing and manufacturing complex shaped parts in high-strength and heat-resistant magnesium based alloys using the method of isothermal die forging.

The method of isothermal die forging is an advanced technique that allows manufacturing high-quality blanks while saving the metal.

Unlike drop stamping (plain hot forging) isothermal forging requires the die and the billet to be heated up during the process of deformation to the same high temperature, which doesn't let the billet cool down and prevents temperature differences. This creates better conditions for the plastic flow of the material and allows us to get better shaped billets of a high quality.

Isothermal method also helps keeping the weight of the initial material down. Sometimes the weight of the material required for the billet is about three times lighter than required for the analogue part processed using regular forging method.

BilletsThe picture reveals the difference between the high-strength aluminium alloy billet made using the regular forging method (right) and isothermally forged analogue billet (left) which doesn't require further mechanical processing.

The high quality of the hot forged billets is achieved as a result of the following factors:

The most effective field of isothermal forging application is the deformation of high-strength heat-resistant magnesium alloys in the condition of superplacticity. It allows manufacturing complex shaped billets of high accuracy, especially thin-walled, characterized by high surface area to volume ratio with low or no drafts, sudden profile drops, and allowances for machining.
