Producers of base parts have encountered problems in the production of thin walled rotary parts, particularly making them as light as possible while increasing their effectiveness.

One of the solutions is to replace aluminium alloys applied for base parts production these days with high strength grainy magnesium alloys MA14gr and MA2-1gr.

The developed technology of isothermal forging of base parts in the conditions of superplasticity with high deformation allows us to produce complex shaped parts which can not be achieved by the existing methods of aluminium alloys deformation.

Those parts have a high surface quality and given geometry, while slight allowances for machining increase metal use factor compared to aluminium parts producing from 0.36 to 0.8.

Forged base parts in grainy magnesium alloys are characterized by high mechanical properties:

G_В = 370 – 375 MPa, G_0,2 = 322 – 331 MPa, δ = 13,6% – 15,2%, mechannical anisotropy is under 13%.

The forgings have a fine-grain structure with evenly spread intermetallics.

Base parts in high strength magnesium alloys are not only economically profitable, but also more reliable and effective in use.
