The creator of elitist machinery 'MV Agusta' doesn't use much of magnesium alloys. The only motorbike with the frame made of magnesium alloy is 'Norton Nemesis'.

Motorbike designers search avidly for new materials and technologies that will allow them to produce lighter frames preserving the merits of classical steel frames which are rigidity, reliability and relatively low price. The new technology of producing high-strength granulated magnesium alloy MA2-1gr will let the designers use the advantages of this material one hundred percent. Magnesium frames are 1.5 times lighter than aluminium with the same rigidity. Workability is its other advantage. It can be shaped into various profiles, forged, welded and mechanically processed. The developed surface is a good corrosion protection.

Granulated magnesium alloy is characterized by excellent damping properties, absorbs engine vibrations that affect the frame. Its vibration strength regarding the damping capacity is 100 times higher than that of duraluminium and 20 times than that of alloyed steel.

The use of granulated magnesium alloy for speedway motorcycles will lower the focal point of the motorbike which will make it easier for the sportsman to perform steep turns.
